2019-03-07
In February of this year, Pervasive AI Research Labs(PAIR) CEO Ted Guo went to Japan to sign the memorandum of understanding for research collaboration with Institute of Physical and Chemical Research– Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (RIKEN-AIP).
RIKEN is a national research institute established by the Japanese government in 1917. It currently has about 3,000 scientists in seven branches across Japan, with an annual budget of about $760 million and 485 research partners worldwide. The RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project has been launched since April 2016 with the subsidy for “Advanced Integrated Intelligence Platform Project (AIP).” Currently, it is dedicated to the applications of artificial intelligence research to accelerate scientific research and solve social problems, such as senior health care and disaster recovery engineering. The missions of AIP include developing next-generation AI technology, accelerating scientific research, solving socially critical problems, developing studies of ethical, legal and social issues of AI and helping human resource development.
After the signing of the memorandum of understanding, both parties officially entered the actual cooperation. Through the exchange program of center staff, researchers, students, sharing research data and resources, and joint research projects, we expect a win-win situation for mutual research and development, reducing the duplication of research results, and helping each other to be more internationally competitive.
